Fall River police arrest one man, seek a second in Brayton Avenue machete attack
Police said anyone who sees Nieves should not approach him and should call 911.
FALL RIVER Developing, 12:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
Fall River police have arrested one man and are looking for a second in the Oct. 15 machete attack at the homeless encampment on Brayton Avenue, the department said Saturday.
Members of the department's CAST Team took Jason Ramalho, 43, into custody Friday, Oct. 23, police said. Danny Nieves, 38, is still wanted. Warrants were issued for both men, and both face charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery, police said. Both men are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Patrol Bureau officers handled the first response on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 15, and detectives from the Major Crimes Division continued the investigation, police said. Together they identified the two men.
If you see Danny Nieves
Police describe Nieves as 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 125 pounds and said he is homeless. Do not approach him, police said; call 911. Anyone with information on where he is can call the department's tip line at 508-672-TIPS (8477), and anonymous tips are welcome.
