MARION Marion real estate and personal property taxes are due Monday, Nov. 2, the town's tax collector reminded residents Thursday. For questions, the Treasurer/Collector's office can be reached at 508-748-3504.
Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday this year. Under state law, when the last day to pay a real estate or personal property tax bill without interest lands on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the payment may be made on the next day a municipal office is open, without penalty or interest.
How to pay
Bills can be paid online through UniPay by electronic check or by credit card. Each electronic check payment carries a 50-cent processing fee, and paying that way takes the account number and bank routing number printed on one of the payer's checks. The town accepts Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards, and the card service provider charges its own convenience fee, which appears in a separate box and is added to the tax total.
Taxpayers can also pay in person at the Treasurer/Collector's office in the Marion Town House, 2 Spring St., or mail a payment to the Town House at 2 Spring St., Marion, MA 02738. Payments sent in the envelopes that come with the tax bills go to a lockbox service in Reading. The Treasurer/Collector's office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, and Treasurer/Collector Kaylan Valadao can be reached directly at 508-748-3505.

Notes
Every fact comes from the Town of Marion's own pages and the state law: the Tax Collector's reminder posted Oct. 22, the Treasurer/Collector department page, the Board of Assessors' tax rate history and abatement forms pages, and Mass. General Laws c. 59, s. 57C. We read them on Oct. 22. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar: Nov. 1, 2026 is a Sunday and Nov. 2, 2026 is a Monday. The $4,435 example is the fiscal 2026 rate times $500,000 divided by 1,000. No other news outlet is a source for this story, and none is credited. Not heard: a request for a photo of the Treasurer/Collector's office is pending with the town.
