No school on Election Day in 12 of 18 South Coast districts, class in 6: November days off and early releases
Taunton is off on Election Day and the whole day before Thanksgiving, and six of the 18 districts in this guide hold classes Nov. 3. The guide lists every day off, conference early release and Thanksgiving dismissal time in November from each district's own calendar.
FAIRHAVEN Students in Fairhaven, Wareham and Berkley have school on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, and so do students at Diman Regional, Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School and Bristol County Agricultural High School. The other 12 public school districts in this guide, Taunton among them, give students the day off for staff training.
Taunton Public Schools lists Nov. 3 as a professional development day with no school. Fall River, New Bedford, Acushnet, Westport, Somerset, Swansea, Dighton-Rehoboth, Freetown-Lakeville, Somerset Berkley Regional, Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech and Old Rochester Regional, with the elementary schools in Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, are closed to students that day as well. Dartmouth Public Schools and Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School are not included in this guide.
Old Rochester Regional Superintendent Michael S. Nelson confirmed by email Oct. 26 that the Old Rochester Regional schools and the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester elementary schools are closed to students Nov. 3, as SC360's earlier calendar guide reported.
Fairhaven, Wareham and Berkley count 18 school days in November, a total that leaves out only Veterans Day and the two days of Thanksgiving break, so Nov. 3 is a regular school day there. Bristol-Plymouth also counts 18 days. Bristol County Agricultural counts 17, and Diman's calendar shades Nov. 3 as a class day. Veterans Day
Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, is a day off in all 18 districts.
Conferences and other days off
Diman dismisses students at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, the day of its eighth grade tour, and holds an open house Sunday, Nov. 8. Bristol County Agricultural High School has no school Monday, Nov. 16, a full professional development day.
Dighton-Rehoboth's middle schools hold parent conferences from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, and Tuesday, Nov. 17, then have an early release for conferences Wednesday, Nov. 18. Somerset's elementary schools also let out early that day, at 12:30 p.m. On early release days, Dighton-Rehoboth's schedule ends the day at 12:25 p.m. in its elementary schools and 11:35 a.m. in its middle schools.
Taunton schools dismiss two hours early Thursday, Nov. 19, for caregiver conferences. Taunton Alternative High School runs on a Friday schedule that day, and there is no school at the Leddy preschool. Dighton-Rehoboth's elementary schools let out early Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19 and 20, for conferences, with evening conferences from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19, and Bristol-Plymouth holds parent and teacher conferences Nov. 19.
Swansea's conference dates are Nov. 16 and 18 for Joseph Case Junior High School and Nov. 19 for Joseph Case High School. In Fairhaven, elementary students leave early Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23 and 24.
Thanksgiving week
Every district is closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27. New Bedford and Taunton are also closed Wednesday, Nov. 25. Everywhere else, students go home early that Wednesday.
Somerset Berkley Regional High School dismisses at 10:30 a.m. with no lunch. Somerset serves no lunches that day, and its middle school dismisses at 11 a.m. Berkley Middle School dismisses at 11 a.m. and Berkley Community School at 11:45 a.m., and Berkley provides lunch. Diman lets out at 11 a.m., and Bristol-Plymouth and Bristol County Agricultural at noon.
In Old Rochester Regional and the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester elementary schools, the junior and senior high schools dismiss at 11:30 a.m., Center School, Old Hammondtown School and Sippican School at 12:20 p.m., and Rochester Memorial School at 12:30 p.m. Acushnet's early release times are noon at its middle school, 12:50 p.m. at its elementary school and 11:45 a.m. for preschool.
Freetown-Lakeville and Wareham list Nov. 25 as a half day, and Wareham schools reopen Monday, Nov. 30. Fall River, Fairhaven, Westport, Swansea, Dighton-Rehoboth and Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech list the day as an early release.

Before you plan around a date
Districts can change these calendars during the year. Diman's notes that all dates are subject to change, as does Freetown-Lakeville's, and Fairhaven's warns that emergency closings and weather can force schedule changes. Westport's tells families to check its website for updates. Each district posts its current calendar on its own website, and a school's main office can confirm any date.

Every date comes from the 2026-27 calendars the 18 districts post, listed below. The 13 calendars in our Oct. 19 guide were downloaded again Nov. 1 and match the earlier copies exactly; the Taunton, Berkley, Diman, Bristol-Plymouth and Bristol County Agricultural calendars were read Nov. 1. Color-coded calendars were read as images. A day counts as no school only where the calendar says so in words or in its color key, or where the district's own count of November school days leaves it out. Old Rochester's Nov. 3 closing was confirmed by its superintendent on Oct. 26. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar. Districts can revise their calendars, and a school's office can confirm any date.
