SOUTH COAST A Flood Watch for the South Coast runs until 10 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service says, and Saturday brings a shred and electronics day in Wareham, a drive-thru dumpster fundraiser and two craft fairs in Taunton, a book sale in Seekonk and library programs for children and adults.

The National Weather Service office in Norton kept the Flood Watch in effect in an update at 12:54 a.m. Friday for Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable and Dukes counties and Rhode Island. The watch took effect at 4 a.m. Friday and runs to 10 a.m. Saturday. It says periods of heavy rain through Saturday morning could bring 2 to 4 inches across Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts, with a low risk, under 30%, of isolated totals of 5 to 6 inches, and that storm drains and ditches may clog with debris. Our Flood Watch story has the details and updates.

The Wareham shred day, the Taunton dumpster fundraiser and several other Saturday events open before the watch ends at 10 a.m., so look at the organizer's page before you head out.

Friday

Dartmouth's Veterans Day Luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Rachel's Lakeside, 950 State Road, the town said. Reservations are required, and Dartmouth veterans can call 508-999-4717 to reserve a spot. Widows of Dartmouth veterans are also welcome.

In Rehoboth, the Congregational Church Bazaar opens in Goff Hall from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and runs again Saturday.

Saturday errands

Wareham holds its Electronic Recycling and Shred Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Wareham Recycling Center on Plymouth Road off Maple Springs Road. Residents with questions can call the town at 508-291-3100.

In Taunton, a drive-thru dumpster fundraiser for P.R.I.D.E. Inc., sponsored by Carney Disposal, runs from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the dumpster is full, at 3 Maple St. The suggested donation is $40 a carload, with more possible for bigger loads, and the organizers take cash or check, or Venmo with a $1 fee. Box trucks and U-Hauls are turned away, as are mattresses, box springs, paint, textiles, yard waste, hazardous materials and items MassDEP prohibits.

In New Bedford, the regional refuse district's free Community Repair and Swap Day runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Keith Middle School, 225 Hathaway Blvd., and no registration is needed. Our story on the repair day lists the workshops and what the holiday decor swap takes.

Craft fairs, a bazaar and a book sale

RAW Bodies Under Construction holds its seventh annual craft fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 5 Cohannet St. in Taunton, with more than 25 local vendors. Bake sale proceeds go to The Kacie Project. Also in Taunton, Girls Inc. holds its 22nd annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 131 Arlington St.

The Congregational Church Bazaar in Rehoboth's Goff Hall runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, after its Friday evening hours. In Seekonk, the Friends of the Library Book Sale fills the large meeting room at the Seekonk Public Library, 410 Newman Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For kids

The Taunton Public Library, 12 Pleasant St., hosts a Block Building Party in its auditorium from 10 to 11 a.m., with no registration needed. The Trescott Street Gallery, 8 Trescott St. in Taunton, runs a children's art workshop for ages 3 to 7 from 9 to 10 a.m., and again Nov. 14. It costs $20 a child for each session, and families register ahead on the gallery's online form.

The Mattapoisett Free Public Library, 7 Barstow St., holds a Dino-vember Storytime for children 2 and up from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. No registration is needed, and the library invites children to come in their best dinosaur clothes.

At the New Bedford Free Public Library's main branch, 613 Pleasant St., children 8 and older can make a clay dragon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., free while supplies last. The library says the workshop is paid for by the New Bedford Local Cultural Council and the library's Friends group. The Lawler Branch, 745 Rockdale Ave., runs its Crafty Kids Club for ages 6 to 11 from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

For adults

Family history fans have two New Bedford library programs. The Lawler Branch demonstrates Ancestry Library Edition, free at every city library, from 10 to 11 a.m. The main library's Ancestor Hour, a conversation club for researchers 14 and older at any level, meets from 1 to 2 p.m. in its CreateLab, with no registration.

In Rochester, the Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library, 17 Constitution Way, hosts historical fiction author Janis Robinson Daly from noon to 1:30 p.m. to talk about her novel "Under Two Flags," drawn from the memoir of a Boston opera student trapped in Berlin during World War I. Seats are reserved through the library's online event registration.

Saturday night

Both were in our week ahead.

Next week

Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11, and Dartmouth's ceremony is at 11 a.m. that day at the Dartmouth Veterans Memorial Grove at the Council on Aging, 628 Dartmouth St., the town says, and Seekonk's town buildings and offices close Nov. 11 and reopen Thursday, Nov. 12. Our Veterans Day guide has every parade, ceremony and closing posted so far.

How we chose

We listed public events on Friday and Saturday that are free, low cost or useful for a weekend errand, each one posted by its organizer or on a city, town or library calendar. No one paid to be included.

Label: Reported by us, from the town's posted records.

Notes

Every listing comes from the organizer's own page or the city, town or library calendar that posts it, and the Flood Watch comes from the National Weather Service's active alerts. We read them on Thursday, Nov. 5, between about 6:45 and 7:10 p.m. and again from about 9:25 to 9:35 p.m., and once more on Friday, Nov. 6, from about 5:25 to 5:35 a.m. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar: Nov. 6, 2026, is a Friday, Nov. 7 a Saturday, Nov. 11 a Wednesday, Nov. 12 a Thursday and Nov. 14 a Saturday. Not posted: prices or limits for the Wareham shred day, and any rain plan from the organizers.
