Missing Westport 16-year-old found safe, police say
Police posted the news Monday afternoon, two days after asking the public for help finding her.
WESTPORT UPDATE, Monday, Nov. 2, 6:30 p.m.: A 16-year-old girl Westport police asked the public to help find over the weekend has been found safe, according to the department.
She "has been located and is safely back with her family," the department said in an update to its missing juvenile notice at 4:17 p.m. Monday.
Police had asked for help finding her Saturday, Oct. 31, after she was last seen Friday afternoon, Oct. 30.
The department thanked everyone who shared its post, provided information and helped bring the search to what it called "a positive conclusion."

The found-safe report comes from the Westport Police Department's own update to its missing juvenile notice, posted on the department's Facebook page at 4:17 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, which we read at about 6 p.m. The last-seen day comes from the department's Oct. 31 notice. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar. Her name and photo were removed once police said she was found. Not heard: no one was contacted for this update.
