The South Coast Conversation
South Coast 360's planned podcast and video show: the week's verified local stories, and one neighbor in the chair. Hosted by Chuck Vieira.
What the show is
The South Coast Conversation is a weekly show built from stories South Coast 360 has already sourced and an editor has approved. It runs about 20 to 25 minutes, audio and video, with clips cut for vertical video. No episode exists yet.
The plan for each episode
- The big story of the week. An approved South Coast 360 story, then what the host thinks about it, clearly labeled as his view.
- This week at town hall. The meeting recaps, in plain language.
- On the water. Weather, marine forecast and tides from the National Weather Service and NOAA.
- A neighbor in the chair. One person from a town we cover, five questions: a librarian, a harbormaster, a coach, a shop owner.
- Around the South Coast and the weekend list. Other newsrooms' good reporting, with where to read it, and events.
- Corrections. Any correction from the log, read plainly.
Ground rules
- Every fact spoken comes from an approved story. A guest's claim is attributed to the guest and checked against the transcript before the episode goes up.
- Every recording starts with an on-the-record announcement and the guest's yes. Every guest signs a release first.
- Every voice is a real person's. No synthetic hosts, no cloned voices.
- A sponsor can present an episode, and the audio, title, description and screen all say so. A sponsor never shapes what is said. See sponsorship.
Opinion
South Coast 360 does not publish opinion at launch. When it opens, opinion pieces will be signed by the person who wrote them, written by that person and no one else, and labeled "Opinion" at the top, apart from the news. AI will never write opinion. The host's own views on the show are spoken, labeled as his, and kept apart from the facts.
