FAIRHAVEN Fairhaven stayed unbeaten Friday night, beating Case 45-37 at home to improve to 6-0, according to the schools' posted schedules. It was one of 10 varsity games Friday involving teams from the towns we cover and their neighbors. With Apponequet's win Thursday, Fairhaven and Apponequet are the only South Coast teams in this roundup still without a loss.

The games

Case gave Fairhaven its closest game of the season. Fairhaven's five earlier wins, over Somerset Berkley, Plymouth North, Bourne, West Bridgewater and Uxbridge, came by margins of 32, 22, 42, 9 and 35 points, its schedule shows. Fairhaven plays at Seekonk on Friday, Oct. 23, and at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech on Oct. 30.

New Bedford beat Haverhill 34-28 at home in a nonleague game and is 5-1. Its only loss came Oct. 3, 34-8 at Quincy. Old Rochester scored the most points of any team in this roundup Friday in a 53-18 win over Bishop Fenwick and is also 5-1. Its loss was 35-14 to Foxborough on Oct. 2.

Diman beat Southeastern 33-6 at Durfee's stadium to even its record at 3-3. Bristol-Plymouth, the regional vocational school in Taunton, beat Tri-County 28-7 and is also 3-3. Wareham won 38-0 at Atlantis Charter in Fall River, leaving both teams at 3-3.

Archbishop Williams shut out Bishop Stang 22-0 in Dartmouth, and Barnstable blanked Dartmouth 20-0 in a nonleague game at Dartmouth Memorial Stadium. Dartmouth is 1-5, but two of those losses came by one point: 14-13 to Middleborough and 13-12 to Old Rochester. Old Colony, the vocational school in Rochester, lost 46-12 at Blue Hills and is 1-5.

Thursday night

Five more South Coast teams played in three games Thursday, Oct. 15. Apponequet beat Somerset Berkley 33-8 to stay unbeaten at 6-0, Dighton-Rehoboth won 27-13 at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech, and Durfee lost 28-27 at Framingham. Somerset Berkley is 1-4, Dighton-Rehoboth and GNB Voc-Tech are each 2-4, and Durfee is 4-2.

Apponequet's closest game so far was its opener, a 21-13 win at Middleborough on Sept. 11. It plays at Bishop Stang on Thursday, Oct. 22, in a nonleague game and at Dighton-Rehoboth on Oct. 30.

The holiday games are already posted. Fairhaven hosts Dartmouth, Apponequet plays at Old Rochester, Diman hosts Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech and Wareham plays at Bourne, all at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26. New Bedford and Durfee meet a day earlier, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, and both schools' schedules list the site as Fenway Park.

How we verified this

Every score, record, site and game time comes from the schools' own schedules on Arbiter Live, the scheduling service the schools use to post results. We read both teams' pages for each game on Oct. 18 and matched the scores on both sides; we could not read Bishop Fenwick's or Framingham's schedules there, so those two games rest on the opponent's page. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar and recomputed Fairhaven's and Apponequet's margins from their posted results. We name teams, not players. Not heard: no one was contacted.
