A proposed Taco Bell at 721 G.A.R. Highway goes before the Somerset Planning Board on Oct. 20 and the Zoning Board of Appeals on Oct. 22, according to agendas posted by the town. A battery energy storage project on Riverside Avenue is back before the zoning board Oct. 29.

The Planning Board meets Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. in the first-floor hearing room at Town Hall, 140 Wood St. Its agenda lists a stormwater permit application for a proposed Taco Bell on the site, with parking, utility and stormwater work. The board will also hold a public hearing on whether roadway work on Karissa Lyn Court in the Luther's Landing subdivision is done, and whether to release the performance bond, keep it or use it to finish the road.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m., the zoning board hears a petition from DDO New England LLC, doing business as Taco Bell, for a planned development under Section 6.10 of the town's zoning bylaws. The agenda describes a quick-serve fast-food restaurant with site work in the Business District. That hearing is in the Cucinotta Community Room at the Somerset Public Library, 1464 County St.

A week later, on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m., the zoning board takes up a petition from Somerset Energy Storage LLC for a planned development to build a commercial battery energy storage system at 1606 Riverside Ave., in the Industrial Zoning District and the Business Industrial Overlay District. The agenda says Somerset Riverside 1606 LLC owns the property. The same petition was on the board's Oct. 15 agenda. The Oct. 29 meeting is at the Old Town Hall, 1480 County St., and the agenda says it will be recorded and posted to YouTube.

How we verified this

Every fact comes from four agendas the town posted in its Agenda Center, listed below. The agendas are scanned copies. We read them on Oct. 18. The agendas do not say what the zoning board did with the battery storage petition on Oct. 15, so this story says only that it was on that agenda. We left out the names of private applicants on other agenda items. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar and each claim against the agendas. Not heard: no one was contacted.
