Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at every polling place in Massachusetts, and a voter who is in line by 8 p.m. can still cast a ballot, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth's 2026 Information for Voters guide. Taunton and Fall River spread their voters across 12 sites each, matched to ward and precinct, while several of the smaller towns send every precinct to one building.

In-person early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30. In Taunton it runs Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon in the Silver City Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall, 15 Summer St., the city's Elections Department says. Westport's last two days run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 816 Main Road. Hours in 10 other towns are in SC360's early voting guide, and Dartmouth's are in our Dartmouth story.

Taunton

Taunton's voters cast ballots at 12 sites across the city's eight wards, under the city's warrant for the Nov. 3 election. The sites match the Elections Department's list of polling places, which last changed in March 2025.

The city's election calendar sets noon Monday, Nov. 2, as the last chance to vote absentee in person at City Hall, and 8 p.m. Tuesday as the deadline for ballots left in the city's ballot box. A mailed ballot postmarked by Nov. 3 counts if it reaches the Elections Department by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, or by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, when it is mailed from outside the U.S., the department says. The department, at City Hall, takes questions at 508-821-1044.

Fall River

The Elections Department's 2026 list sends Fall River's 27 precincts to 12 places. Seven of those precincts moved this year, as SC360's Election Day guide reported, and the city's ballot drop box and two-card ballot are in our earlier Fall River story.

Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett and Westport

All three Freetown precincts vote in the gym at Freetown Elementary School, 43 Bullock Road, East Freetown, and the town asks voters to use the Memorial Drive entrance. Mail ballots can go in the white drop box outside Town Hall, 3 North Main St., Assonet, until 8 p.m. Election Day, the Town Clerk's office says, and in-person absentee voting at the clerk's office ends at noon Monday, Nov. 2.

Marion votes at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center, 465 Mill St. Mattapoisett's two precincts vote at Old Hammondtown School, 20 Shaw St., the town's state election warrant says.

Westport votes in five places, and the Town Clerk's page says precincts are not expected to change this year. Precinct A votes at Our Lady of Grace Hall, 569 Sanford Road, and Precinct B at the Town Hall Annex, 856 Main Road. Precinct C is at Alice A. Macomber School, 154 Gifford Road, Precinct D at the Briggs Road Fire Station, 85 Briggs Road, and Precinct E at the former Westport High School, 19 Main Road.

Dighton, Somerset and Swansea

In Dighton, mail ballots go in the blue drop box at the back of Town Hall, and the Town Clerk must receive them by 8 p.m. Tuesday, the town's election notice says.

Somerset's five precincts all vote in the Student Dining Hall at Somerset Berkley Regional High School, 625 County St. Voters enter through the dining hall and park in the southern lot nearest Clifford M. Holland Road, where accessible spaces are set aside, the Town Clerk's page says. Two more temporary accessible spaces go on the access road nearest the doors on Election Day, and drivers can drop off and pick up voters there. Somerset and Swansea both take in-person absentee votes at the Town Clerk's office until noon Monday, Nov. 2.

Getting a mail ballot back in time

The Secretary's guide strongly recommends that anyone who has not mailed a ballot within a week of Election Day return it by drop box or in person instead. The other ways to return a ballot, and the Nov. 6 deadline for mailed ballots postmarked by Nov. 3, are in our early voting guide.

Everywhere else

Polling places for Acushnet, Dighton, Rochester, Swansea and Wareham are in SC360's early voting guide, Dartmouth's nine are in our Dartmouth story, and New Bedford's two moved precincts are in our New Bedford story. Acushnet seniors can book a morning ride to the polls through the Council on Aging, as our Election Day guide explains. Any voter can look up an assigned polling place at VoteInMA.com, the Secretary's guide says.

Notes

Every fact comes from the Secretary of the Commonwealth's 2026 Information for Voters guide and from the posted election pages, lists and notices of the Taunton and Fall River election departments and the Freetown, Marion, Mattapoisett, Westport, Dighton, Somerset and Swansea town clerks, all listed below. We read them on Oct. 29, 2026. Fall River's polling list, Westport's early voting schedule, the Taunton and Mattapoisett warrants and Dighton's notice are scanned pages, and we read them directly. Every Taunton polling place matches both the city's Nov. 3 warrant and its list of polling places, dated March 26, 2025. We checked each date and weekday against a calendar: Oct. 29 is a Thursday, Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 are Fridays, Nov. 2 is a Monday and Nov. 3 is a Tuesday.
