At 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, Dartmouth's unbeaten 10U Pop Warner team plays the Seekonk Jr. Warriors for the conference Super Bowl title at Seekonk High School, a rematch of a season opener Dartmouth won 19-0.

Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts Pop Warner, the conference both programs play in, lists the game as its 10U Super Bowl. Dartmouth comes in 8-0, with 241 points scored and 6 allowed in eight games by the conference's posted scores, and it has not given up a point since its fourth game.

Seekonk is the host for the day, since the conference is playing all four of its Super Bowls there Sunday, and Seekonk families get two title games that morning: the Jr. Warriors' 8U team plays Edgewood for the 8U championship at 9 a.m. at the same site, after beating Dartmouth's 8U team 33-21 in the Nov. 1 semifinals.

How Dartmouth got here

Dartmouth opened with the 19-0 win over Seekonk, then beat Dighton-Rehoboth 40-0, Wareham 34-0, East Providence 27-6, Edgewood 30-0, East Bay 36-0 and New Bedford 24-0, finishing the regular season 7-0 with 210 points scored, the conference standings show. The 6 points East Providence scored in the fourth week are the only points any team has put up on Dartmouth this fall.

As the top seed in the 10-team division, Dartmouth had a first-round bye, then beat No. 5 East Providence 31-0 at home on Nov. 1 for its seventh shutout in eight games. Fun 107, the South Coast radio station, reported the matchup and the perfect record on Nov. 6, in a story built on its interview with the Dartmouth league's president.

Seekonk's run since the opener

Seekonk lost that first game and has won every game since. The Jr. Warriors beat East Bay 34-0, New Bedford 33-0, Dighton-Rehoboth 41-0, Edgewood 20-0, East Providence 33-7, Wareham 14-12 and Middletown 41-0 to finish 7-1 and second in the standings, with 216 points scored and 38 allowed, and then beat No. 3 Wareham a second time, 14-6, in the Nov. 1 semifinal at Middletown.

Those two wins over Wareham, by 2 points and then by 8, were Seekonk's closest games of the season. Seekonk also went undefeated last season and won the Super Bowl, Fun 107 reported, which makes Sunday a meeting of last year's champion and this year's unbeaten top seed.

The conference lists the higher seed as the home team, so Dartmouth is the home side on the bracket even though the game is played in Seekonk.

The team behind the record

Dartmouth Youth Football League President Sam Blevines told Fun 107 he could not be prouder of the players, and he credited the coaches' focus on three things a player can control, discipline, effort and attitude, which the program calls the DEA mindset.

The Dartmouth 10U team has a coaching staff of seven, a student coach who plays varsity football at Dartmouth High and came up through the league himself, and two team moms who keep things running, according to Fun 107. The station also reported that four Dartmouth cheer teams took first place at the RISMA cheer competition and head to regionals in two weeks.

The bracket, and what comes after

The 10U playoff started Oct. 24 with six teams. Wareham beat Edgewood 25-6 and East Providence beat Fairhaven 41-12 in the first round while Dartmouth and Seekonk sat out on byes, and the two top seeds then won their semifinals by a combined 45-6 to set up Sunday's rematch.

A Super Bowl win sends the champion to the Regional Championships on Nov. 22, with a chance to advance to Nationals in North Carolina, Fun 107 reported.

If you go

At Seekonk High School, 261 Arcade Ave., the 8U title game, Seekonk against Edgewood, kicks off at 9 a.m., and the 10U game between Dartmouth and Seekonk follows at 11 a.m., as the conference lists them.

Two more South Coast teams play for titles at Seekonk later in the day. New Bedford's 12U team, the No. 5 seed, meets No. 2 Middletown for the 12U title at 1 p.m., after beating Old Rochester 42-6 and top-seeded East Bay 39-6 in the playoffs, and No. 2 Dighton-Rehoboth plays top-seeded East Providence for the 13U title at 3 p.m., after beating Dartmouth 14-7 and Edgewood 38-20, the conference bracket shows.
