MARION The Marion Select Board will open its Tuesday, Oct. 20, meeting with a 6 p.m. public hearing on the transfer of an all-alcohol off-premises liquor license. The agenda also lists three discussions on unpaid taxes and water bills. The meeting is in the Town House Conference Room at 2 Spring St..
At the hearing, the board will sit as the Local Licensing Authority on an application by Magan Corp., doing business as Marion Town Liquors, according to the public hearing notice. The application is for the transfer of the license and a change of location from a business operating as Vinodivino.
A second hearing, held with the Tree Warden, follows at 6:15 p.m. on the removal of a hazardous tree across the street from a Park Street property, the notice says. Later on the agenda, the board is asked to approve a special one-day alcohol license for Island Girl Hospitality, LLC, on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Three agenda items concern money owed to the town: Marion tax title, 2024 delinquent property taxes and delinquent water bills. One is titled "Discussion Regarding 2024 Delinquent Property Taxes: Next Steps," the agenda says. The other two carry the same "Next Steps" wording, and the tax title item adds "Priorities, Follow Up." The agenda gives no dollar amount owed for any of the three.
Sitting as the Water/Sewer Commissioners, the board lists six water and sewer commitments dated Oct. 5 to Oct. 14. They total $69,518.70, according to the agenda. One, for new sewer service dated Oct. 8, is $65,130. The other five total $4,388.70 and range from $155 for a sewer reconnection to $2,250 for new water service.
The board will review financials for fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2027 and discuss fiscal year 2028 budget guidelines and a five-year forecast.
Other items include three appointments to the Affordable Housing Trust, two water and sewer abatement requests, a sewer connection request and five pieces of correspondence, including a state letter about a $3,000 grant for SafetyWorks training.
The meeting will be recorded and televised by ORCTV, according to the agenda. The hearings are open to the public at the Town House.
Anyone who needs an auxiliary aid or service, or a modification of policies or procedures, should contact Town Administrator Geoff Gorman at ggorman@marionma.gov "as soon as possible, preferably 30 days before the activity or event," according to the town's Americans with Disabilities Act notice.

How we verified this
Every fact comes from the town's own posted records, listed below. We read them on Oct. 18. We recomputed every weekday by script and checked each claim against the record; a separate fact check against the same record confirmed every claim, and its wording changes are applied. Not heard: no one was contacted.
