FAIRHAVEN Fairhaven beat Westport 1-0 in boys soccer on Monday, Nov. 2, and moved to 12-3-2, in one of the last games that count toward MIAA soccer seeding. Westport, which had lost only twice, is 12-3-3. Field hockey and volleyball already have their brackets, and the first South Coast team to play in the state tournament is Bishop Stang volleyball, which plays a Division 2 preliminary game at Chicopee Comprehensive on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m.

  • Monday, Nov. 2: Dartmouth 1, North Attleboro 1, at North Attleboro. Dartmouth is 11-2-3.

Greater New Bedford, at 14-2-1, has the best record among the South Coast boys teams on that list. The Bears host Greater Lowell at Riley Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 4 p.m., three hours after the soccer brackets come out.

The MIAA's tournament schedule set Tuesday as the last day for soccer games to count toward seeding, Wednesday as the working day and Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. for the boys and girls brackets. South Coast 360 will post every South Coast soccer seed and first-round game when they are out.

Volleyball

  • Monday, Nov. 2: Old Colony 3, South Shore Tech 0, at Old Colony.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3: Greater New Bedford 3, Greater Lawrence 1, at Greater Lawrence. GNB is 13-8.

Unified basketball

New Bedford's unified basketball game at Brockton on Monday, Nov. 2, was postponed. Durfee's unified team plays at Middleborough on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m., and Wareham plays at Riverview School on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m.

The MIAA field hockey draw

Ten South Coast field hockey teams made the state tournament, and none of them plays a preliminary game. Somerset Berkley, 15-2-1, is the highest seed in the area at No. 4 in Division 2 and the only South Coast team at home in the first round. The MIAA released the field hockey brackets Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m., and the records in the draw run through the Sunday, Nov. 1, cutoff.

The MIAA volleyball draw

Thirteen South Coast volleyball teams are in the field. Old Rochester, 17-2, drew the No. 2 seed in Division 3, and Joseph Case, 16-4, is No. 4 in the same division. Both wait on preliminary winners, as does No. 11 Fairhaven, 16-4. Old Colony, 18-2, is the No. 7 seed in Division 5. The volleyball brackets came out Tuesday at 1 p.m., with records through Sunday, Nov. 1, so Monday and Tuesday wins are not in them.

  • Division 2 preliminary: No. 33 Bishop Stang (11-7) at No. 32 Chicopee Comprehensive, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 5 p.m. The winner plays at No. 1 Oliver Ames.
  • Division 3 preliminary: No. 30 Dighton-Rehoboth (9-10) vs. No. 35 St. Mary's of Lynn, Thursday, Nov. 5, 6 p.m. The winner plays No. 3 Lynnfield.
